The Hillcrest Village BIA partnered with notable sommelier Zoltan Szabo to host the first annual St. Clair Uncorked. This one day wine tasting event featured wines from Canada, South Africa, and Sicily. Various stores and services on St. Clair West between Christie and Winona opened their doors with an assortment of food paired with specially-selected wines. Event tickets were extremely affordable at $20 for 10 tickets.
Szabo held hourly sessions at various locations throughout the neighbourhood, where guests asked questions about the selected wines, as well as general questions about wine appreciation.
In addition, 13 restaurants along St. Clair West created exclusive wine-paired menus. For those who didn’t get enough from wine tasting during the day, Pukka offered a selection of wine flights for $15. Asada Mexican Grill, Stazione Centrale, La Créole, P.R.O.P. Catch Seafood, The Rushton, Dave’s on St. Clair, The Wailer’s Lounge offered a wine-paired à la carte menu, while Ferro Bar Cafe, The Crest, Bywoods, offered a wine-paired prix fixe tasting menu. The Piper’s Pub and Grill threw a wine-paired full lobster dinner party.
The proceeds from this event went to AboutFace, a national charitable organization which provides emotional, peer and social support, resources and educational programs for individuals with facial differences and their families.
