Canadian Music Week is more than just a few concerts at a couple venues in downtown Toronto. Canadian Music Week combines three information-intensive conferences; a trade exposition; a film festival; a comedy festival; four awards shows and the nation’s largest new music festival.
Personally, Canadian Music Week has always signaled the beginning of the concert going season. This years was no exception with their expanded ten day music appreciation event from a five day concert going schedule. It should come as no surprise that this years Canadian Music Week saw a record 180,000 fans at over 60 venues for over 1000 artists.
Lets say for a moment that Canadian Music Week is the cake. The icing on that cake for music fans would be CHUM FM’s Fan Fest. This year was no exception with performances by Magic!, Kiesza, Lights, Colbie Cailliat,Trevor Guthrie, Shawn Hooks, and Francesco Yates.
Surely, this years super-sized Canadian Music Week will become the new standard format for those of us with a healthy appetite for live music.
