What do you if you’re given lemons on a hot summer’s day? Make lemonade, of course. And Lou Dawg’s got a different take on it for Thirsty Thursday.
Smoked Lemon Southern Tea is a delicious blend of smoked lemon juice (lemons are smoked in house daily); Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey (a blend of Jack Daniel’s No. 7 Tennessee Whiskey and honey liqueur); soda and Sprite. It is served in a tall glass over ice with muddled fresh lemons.
The drink is a collaborative creation by Lou Dawg’s Co-Founder and Executive Chef Sean Smith and Co-Founder and Executive Manager Daryl D’Souza. Smith’s original recipe of lemons, Honey Liqueur and Jack Daniel’s was modified with D’Souza’s suggestion to incorporate smoked lemons. The recipe underwent further modification when Jack Daniel’s introduced Tennessee Honey.
Smith and D’Souza also took the drink to CBC’s Dragon’s Den. The dragons loved the drink but turned down an offer for a deal (this episode did not air). D’Souza stated that being on Dragon’s Den was “a lot of fun and a great experience”.
What better way to relax on a hot summer’s day than sipping on a refreshing cool drink? The sweet and cinnamon undertones from the liqueur complements the smoky tartness of the lemons. Drink with caution as the drink is a double and goes down dangerously fast.
Easy Drinking. Good times.
