The Trans Calendar Project identifies themselves as a “non for profit collective of trans* identified individuals working for positive social change through art. Our mission is to create an annual calendar as a way to represent ourselves through our own eyes, in all our diversity of identities and narratives. This not only empowers our own trans communities, but serves as a way to raise awareness and combat transphobia.”
Last year, the Trans Calendar Project surpassed their $5000 goal and raised $8000 to support their cause. This year they’ve upped their goal to $10 000.
The launch party took place at VideoFag in downtown Toronto and showcased the talent and skills of the Trans Calendar team. Guests were able to view the calendar photographs, pre-order calendars and mingle with drinks in hand.
Half of all money raised will go towards improving the quality of life through the transition. The Trans Calendar Project runs until October 10th, 2013. To donate or check out their campaign incentives visit: The Trans Calendar Project.
