Young adults in North America understand the frustration of unemployment just as well as anyone else. Hidden under piles of student loan debt, bills and/or rent, is a young adult looking for independence and financial stability in this big, scary world. Last year, the unemployment rate for youth in Toronto was alarmingly high, standing at 17.1 percent of youth between the age of 15-24, and it’s not for lack of trying. Anyone starting to make their mark in the world has heard the words “not enough experience” countless times. This is where Youth Empowerment Day comes in.

Fresh Print Magazine and OWLware want to help get you started in your career with Youth Empowerment Day. Gathering at Mel Lastman square on May 23rd, we will be bringing together companies looking for fresh minds and eager employees to fill various positions within their establishments. Happy with your job but still strapped for cash? We’ve got you covered too as the Government of Ontario and Service Canada will be there to provide information on grants, bursaries and scholarships. Fresh Print Magazine leads the initiative to amplify the voices of Youth realizing that they will one day stand on the front lines of forging a better future.

The event will feature some of Toronto’s foremost musical talent, with special guest appearances by the Wayne’s Girls throughout the day.
