On Friday Dec 6 2013 I had the opportunity to go check out the One of Kind Christmas Show at the Direct Energy Centre in Toronto. Toronto hosts The One of a Kind Show bi-yearly (at Christmas time and in the Spring) and it is the largest consumer craft show in North America. From Nov 28 – Dec 8 2013, The One of a Kind Christmas Show featured one of kind, handmade goods by hundreds of Canadian Artists and Artisans.  The show is pretty, sparkly and quite overwhelming for your wallet because it’s the perfect place for finding holiday gifts for your loved ones (and for yourself of course)!   I think I have compiled what is the best of the best of the artisans at the 2013 One of Kind Christmas Show. Check out my Top Choice Booths!

Elite One of a Kind Shopping Tips1)     Skinny Sweats: Adrienne Butikofer has been a photography client of mine for a number of years now. This girl makes the coolest clothes out of quality fabrics that make for ultimate comfort.  From the perfect fitting sweat pants (“skinnysweats”) to the comfiest “party” sweatshirts, to the most amazing printed leggings (my favourites are her woodgrain print leggings). Her clothes are a must buy. The items are wardrobe essentials.  Be sure to check it out her shop online at www.skinnysweats.com or etsy.com/shop/adriennebutikofer

2)     Paper People Clothing: Jen Fukushima’s eco-friendly designs are soft and stylish. These to-die-for dresses and sweaters are described as being the “perfect attire for the office, but can also be worn on a fall forest adventure or bike ride to a favourite secluded retreat.“ (sourced from the Paper People Clothing website).

Elite One of a Kind Shopping Tips - Fresh Print Magazine3)     Pip Robins Accessories: Pip Robins makes belt buckles printed with love, one of a kind unique handbags, and my favourite – the ultimate alternative to the to the traditional winter scarf – sewn cowls. I noticed pips booth right away, particularly because of the ‘cowl’. I picked one up because I’m quite active in the winter (I snowboard) and was thinking this would be my new must-have item to keep warm on the hills.  I haven’t taken the cowl off since I bought it last Friday and it’s become my new fave accessory. “Shaped like a tube and designed to fit everyone, cowls offer cozy warmth but not awkward bulk” (Sourced from http://piprobins.com/about.html)

Elite One of a Kind Shopping Tips - Fresh Print Magazine4)    Art ‘Put’ On: Perfect and pretty – my fave when it comes to jewellery. Worth the mystery? The artist doesn’t have a website, making her styles somewhat elusive, however you’re just going to have to trust me on this one – contact Michelle Hacksel  artputon@rogers.com to find out more!

For the Home:

5)     Stinson Studios – I work as a freelance photographer and I shoot a lot of food photography. I also live for cooking and on my days off, I like to spend time in my kitchen concocting new creations. In my years training and through my experiences I have come to the conclusion that quality cookware is an essential kitchen tool that one cannot do without. The prices are quite reasonable considering the quality of these products just can’t be beat!  (I went home with a maple cutting board and http://stinsonstudios.ca/shop/cutting-boards/)

Shopping Tips - Toronto6)     Hilary Cosgrove – These pillows are super cute and comfy. They caught my eye as something I’d like for my couch. If you’re looking to pretty up your pad with new décor, this may be for you!  http://www.hilarycosgrove.com/Product.html

And that’s it for this segment!  Happy Shopping!
