A birthday party celebration at Lula Lounge perfectly showcased the musical styling of Christian Bridges and KC Roberts & the Live Revolution. This intimate and upbeat show gave birthday-boy Bridges the chance share his music with his fans, friends and family on his special day. To add to this already perfect evening, Bridges invited his favourite Toronto band, KC Roberts & the Live Revolution, to headline the the party while he got his groove on.
The sincerity of both bands made the show amazing. In fact, throughout Bridges’ entire performance you could see and feel his raw energy and relate to his positive world changing lyrics. One of the most memorable moments in Bridges’ set was when he was accompanied on stage by Rob Christian to perform the song Cecelia off his album “From Within”. The combination of Bridges’ voice and Rob Christian’s piano playing created an intense passion that was felt by the entire crowd. This huge swell of emotion really got the audience hungry for more. To respond to the crowd’s craving, KC Roberts & the Live Revolution served up a sound so funky the crowd couldn’t help but dance.
From start to finish, KC Roberts & the Live Revolution had the place jumping with the unreal mix of reggae, funk and disco. KC’s quick spoken lyrics were perfectly matched with body-moving bass lines and a breathtaking brass section, which in my opinion, is missing in music these days. At one point in the set, there was a trombone solo within a Bob Marley mash-up that blew the minds of those in attendance and added to an already perfect night.
The night was in fact so awesome that if it was repeated for birthdays on a regular basis Chuck E. Cheese’s would go out of business. The sound, feeling and party was really that great. While it’s not known if these two bands will collaborate on Bridges ‘ birthday next year, it’s safe to say that everyone in attendance will be looking forward to future performances by Christian Bridges and KC Roberts & the Live Revolution.
